Jana Gordon is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who has been practicing for 28 years in a variety of clinical settings. She received her Master’s Degree in Clinical Social Work from University of Pennsylvania’s School of Social Policy and Practice in 1997.
She began her career participating in the development of the Ambulatory Care Services at University of Pennsylvania’s Department of Outpatient Psychiatry. It was during this time she provided individual, couples, and family therapy to a diverse population including the employees of the Hospital and University, undergraduate and graduate students, and members of the community. Jana also provided supervision to second year MSW students, and completed a post graduate certificate in Adult Psychodynamic Psychotherapy from the Psychoanalytic Center of Philadelphia in 2000. She continues to be an active member of this group, has taught graduate students through the Center, and continues to be a Mentor to MSW and DSW students through University of Pennsylvania’s School of Social Policy and Practice‘s Mentor Collective.
Jana has spent the last 24 years providing individual and couples therapy through the Center for Family Guidance, and in her ongoing Private Practice. She is very excited to be joining The Temenos Center, to continue to help individuals navigate complex emotions and life experiences with empathy and expertise.
Her approach is primarily psychodynamic in orientation, which focuses on providing thoughtful and empathetic intervention to help individuals understand how past experiences, unresolved conflicts, and patterns of behavior shape current challenges in relationships at work, in school, socially, and in day to day life. She works with adults, individuals and couples who struggle with depression, anxiety, mood disorders, personality disorders, relationship issues, marriage and divorce, family dynamics, trauma, grief and loss, intimacy and sexuality, self-esteem, and life transitions.
Therapy is a deeply personal journey. Jana is committed to providing a safe, empathetic, non-judgmental space to explore and navigate specific challenges, unresolved conflicts, to deepen insight, increase self-awareness, provide a place to heal, and cultivate personal growth within the context of a collaborative therapeutic relationship.
